Ron grew up in Jackson,
TN in the 1950's and 60's. Influenced heavily by the native artists
of the area, Ron began playing guitar at the age of 13. He relates
one of
the single most influential events of his early music years as the
appearance of the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show in the
early 60's.
Through high school Ron
played with various cover bands made up largely of friends like Alan
Wheeler, Jimmy Reece and others in his circle of friends from the
era. Today, Ron, Alan, and Jimmy play together, along with Julie
Rhodes and Gary McClellan, once again in a
classic rock, rhythm & blues band called FlashBack.
| Though music has, and
is, the great passion of Ron's life, another calling seemed
to be beckoning him in the mid-70's. "Broadcasting was a field," Ron
once said, "always appealed to me as a youngster for some
reason. I don't know if it was because of the music involvement or
the sheer excitement of what the DJ's of the day were doing". |

After traveling on the
road playing and recording with various bands during the early
1970's Ron moved back to Jackson from Nashville, got married and
settled into life in his hometown of Jackson. |
Staying active in music
for the next several years he organized and traveled in the gospel
music field. During those years Ron continued to write songs,
produce and record projects for his own group and others as well.
During the 1970's he
entered the broadcasting field and remains in that career today as a
news director and program director with Forever Communications, Inc.
in Jackson.
Returning to his Rock
& Roll and Rhythm & Blues roots in 2001 by
organizing FlashBack, Ron continues to indulge his passion for
music, songwriting, and broadcasting.
